When the opportunity arose, I think I was the first person to sign up for the 2019 class. I really had no idea what I was getting into, what I would personally get out of it, or what I would do with that..
Well, hereβs the deal: I joined a fantastic group of yogis, learners, and lovely people. As the year progressed, I came to appreciate the joy of being a part of a cohort, something I missed and didnβt realize. I looked forward to our monthly weekends together. I learned about yoga, I learned about βmyβ team, and I found new appreciations for yoga in my life.
I highly recommend the yoga teacher training program offered at Downward Dog Studio. It is challenging, nurturing, comprehensive and professional in every regard. Kelli and Hannah complement one another to provide not only many years of experience, but also with a variety in backgrounds and perspectives.
Whether you are considering the training to deepen and grow in your own practice, or wish to explore teaching options, you will not be disappointed. I wish I had enrolled several years ago.
I was so grateful for the camaraderie, support, friendship and fun that developed within our cohort. It was a joy to spend entire weekends with amazing yogis.
I absolutely loved my training at DWD! I had a solid introduction to aspects of yoga outside of asana (the other 7 limbs π) and was well trained in the art and science of asana instruction. We read and discussed classic yoga texts as a group, it was amazing to hear all the other traineesβ perspectives and share my own thoughts. And if that werenβt enough, I got to eat a traditional Indian dinner at the home of a student, an experience that I will remember forever!
My personal practice grew leaps and bounds and my training set me on the path to being the teacher I am today. I am forever grateful for my experience with Hannah and Kelli at Downward Dog.
My teacher training at Downward Dog was an amazing, life-altering experience. Every month for 10 months I got to yoga geek out with a mindful, encouraging group of trainees and two extremely positive, supportive instructors. I was able to learn how to express my love and study of yoga in a way to help other students on their yoga journey. I also deepened my own yoga practice in ways that I could never have imagined or achieved on my own. Kelli and Hannah were incredibly patient, knowledgeable and fun. I liked the organization of each weekend's schedule. Even though we covered a lot of material and practiced quite a bit, it never felt rushed and I was never bored. This teacher training prepared me very well to teach my own classes.
My Teacher Training experience at Downward Dog was equal parts self-discovery, physical training and mental training. Kelli & Hannah provide an experience that is welcoming for any person with any level of yoga background. They build community among the students that will sustain you throughout the year, both in and outside of teacher training weekends. One of my favorite things about the training is the historical perspective and reading traditional yogic texts - I feel such a deeper connection to yogic thinking and philosophy as a result. Teacher training at Downward Dog helped me evolve as a yogi, but more importantly, as a person. It's trite to say that the experience changed my life, but it truly did. 10 weekends of meditation, reflection, learning and practice can't leave you unchanged. I am so thankful for the experience. My advice? If you're even considering it, DO IT. There's never a "right" time: there's only the present. Namaste!
